Education - Overview

Advances in genomics and bioinformatics have significantly affected all facets of biological research. IGS is committed to providing educational opportunities to the community at all background levels, from elementary school children to independent researchers who would like to know more about the new field of genomics.

We host IGS Genomics Workshops for professional scientists who want to learn the tools and techniques of genomics.

We have developed several educational and outreach initiatives to provide training to various groups. As active members of the UM BioPark community, we participate with the larger UMB campus in programs with the surrounding West Baltimore and Poppleton communities, including community outreach and science education events. We also host IGS Genomics Workshops for professional scientists who want to learn the tools and techniques of genomics and bioinformatics for their work. Internships and graduate programs for biology students provide opportunities for one-on-one in-depth study of a particular topic. We welcome your inquiries.
