Education UMB PhD Courses and Programs
These are the degree granting programs with which IGS is affiliated. Students that wish to train under the mentorship of our faculty will be pursuing a degree through one of these programs:
A Research Track in Molecular Genetics, Genomics and Bioinformatics: A new Molecular Genetics, Genomics, and Bioinformatics track has been constituted in the Graduate Program in Molecular Medicine. The MGGB track provides interdisciplinary graduate training focusing on the basic molecular genetic and genomic processes underlying the field of molecular medicine.
The Graduate Program in Molecular Microbiology & Immunology provides interactive, multi-departmental education and research training. Its graduates receive comprehensive education in molecular and cell biology, microbiology and immunology and in-depth training in their chosen area of research.
The Graduate Program in Epidemiology & Human Genetics offers courses of study leading to MS and/or PhD degrees. Students in the doctoral program select from among three tracks: Epidemiology, Molecular Epidemiology, and Human Genetics and Genomic Medicine.
The mission of the Program in Genetics and Genomic Medicine is to facilitate the pace of discovery in genetics and genomics; to accelerate the translation of these new discoveries to improve patient care; and to enhance the training and education of future generations of physicians and scientists in genomic medicine and science.
GPILS offers cutting edge research training in basic biomedical, clinical and population sciences. Our graduate programs in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Epidemiology & Human Genetics, Human Genetics and Genomic Medicine, Gerontology, Molecular Medicine, Molecular Microbiology & Immunology, Neuroscience, Physical Rehabilitation Science and Toxicology award, the PhD and MS in basic, clinical and population research, emphasizing the continuum from bench to bedside to population.
